Although Kolaco focuses primarily on application development, we believe that an application running on a poorly set up and configured network is not a good application, at least to the user community – and that is what really matters. That is why in addition to requiring our developers to attain the highest level of certification, we also require our Domino Administrators to attain this same high level of certification. As more systems are integrated with Domino, it is even more important to make sure the systems are set up and configured using Best Practices. Below are a few questions and situations where Kolaco will assist you in make sure you properly plan and set up your Domino infrastructure:
Do your users use Blackberries and need instant access to PIM information? Integration with a Blackberry Server for Messaging is common today.
Do you use Sametime Web Conference and/or Instant Messaging for Chat, inside and/or outside the firewall?
Do your users need to be able to set up Team spaces to instantly manage projects and share projects? Installation and Configuring Lotus QuickR will instantly provide this collaboration function.
What about Disaster Recover? Are you messaging servers set up with Domino Clustering? Clustering can provide load balancing and failover to eliminate user downtime.
Do your users need Off Line Access to Domino Databases? If so DOLS needs to be set up and your users trained to properly leverage this technology.
What about Email Archiving? - what happens when the corporate counsel asks to search 2.000 email files for certain keywords, can you accommodate the results in 72 hours or less? IBM DB2 CommonStore is designed to work with both Domino and Exchange messaging environments.
Do you have separate Applications and Technologies that you want to render in a Portal Infrastructure? IBM WebSphere Portal provides the best way to integrate these systems but installation and configuration requires a knowledgeable resource. |
